About JSON Diff

Line-based diff tools flag huge changes just from re-formatting or reordered keys. JSON Diff parses both documents and compares by key and array index, so only values that actually changed are reported. Useful for comparing API responses, checking config file changes, or matching expected vs. actual test output. Differences are listed with a path like `$.user.name` alongside the before/after values. Arrays are compared by index rather than by matching moved elements, so reordering shows up as per-index changes.

How to use

  1. Paste the original JSON into Before
  2. Paste the JSON to compare into After
  3. Review added, removed, and changed entries by path

FAQ

Does key order affect the comparison?

No. Values are compared structurally, so differing key order alone is not reported as a change.

How are reordered array elements shown?

Arrays are compared by index, so a reorder appears as a value change at each affected index.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Comparison runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to toco.tools servers.
