Acerca de Slug Generator

A URL slug is a short, path-safe identifier derived from a heading—typically lowercase ASCII with hyphens (or underscores) instead of spaces and punctuation. toco.tools lowercases text, chooses your separator, strips diacritics (café → cafe), and can romanize hiragana/katakana with simplified Hepburn. Leftover non-ASCII such as kanji can be percent-encoded or stripped. Optional max length truncates cleanly without dangling separators or broken escapes. Everything runs in your browser. Handy for CMS permalinks, static-site routes, and normalizing filenames.

Cómo usarla

  1. Paste a heading or title
  2. Choose separator, romaji, and non-ASCII handling
  3. Copy the generated slug

Preguntas frecuentes

How is Japanese handled?

Hiragana and katakana are romanized by default. Leftover characters such as kanji can be percent-encoded or stripped.

Does café become cafe?

Yes. With diacritic stripping on, accents are removed via NFD normalization.

Hyphen vs underscore?

Both separate words. Web permalinks usually use hyphens (kebab-case); underscores (snake_case) are common for identifiers.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All conversion runs in your browser; nothing is sent to toco.tools servers.
